A Whitley County Third-District constable candidate was arrested on Monday in connection to a reported sexual assault that happened in 2019.
Tyler Burdine, 25, of Williamsburg, was indicted by a Pulaski County grand jury on offenses of Rape – First Degree (Domestic Violence) and Sodomy – First Degree (Domestic Violence).
The indictment states his ex-girlfriend reported being raped and sodomized ‘by forcible compulsion’ on the dates of April 19, 2019, and April 20, 2019.
However, Burdine’s new wife took to social media to tell her perspective on the charges.
“This is all due to a bitter baby mama,” She added, “I would not have stood beside this man and married him last week if I thought for one minute that these allegations were true. He had a child with this woman and he went to do DNA and get visitation rights and not even a week later she went and pressed rape charges against him. People can believe what they want and how they want to view my husband. But I know the man I married,” she stated on Facebook.
Burdine was given a bail amount of $25,000 cash and released from Whitley County Detention Center. He was also instructed not to have any contact with his previous girlfriend.
All criminal defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
