North Laurel's Reed Sheppard and Ryan Davidson step up big to lead the Jaguars to a 69-40 win over Bell County in the semifinals of the 13th Region Tournament at The Corbin Arena.
Sheppard led all scorers with 36 points. The University of Kentucky commits dished out six assists and recorded three steals and three blocked shots. Davidson came away with a double-double as he scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
The Jaguars got off to a hot start and took a 13-4 lead at the end of the first quarter, but Brad Sizemore’s Bobcats were not going to go away easy. Bell County hung close in the second quarter but were still outscored 12-10 as North Laurel held a 25-14 advantage at the half.
Cameron Burnett led Bell County with 18 points and six rebounds, while Dawson Woolum added 11 points for the game. The Bobcats finished their season with a 25-6 record.
North Laurel moves on for a rematch of last year’s 13th Region Championship as they try to avenge their loss to Knox Central. The game will tip-off at 7 pm. On Monday, March 7.
