Murder case headed to the Whitley County Grand Jury

A case involving a Williamsburg man accused of fatally shooting a man at a Whitley County residence is now headed to the grand jury.

Martin A. Canada, 48, appeared before Judge White in Whitley District Court on Monday, Sept. 26, where he waived his right to a preliminary hearing on one charge of Murder.

According to a release from Kentucky State Police, Canada began fighting with Kyle Chadwell, 31, on Wednesday night, September 14, when officials say Canada shot Chadwell during the fight.

Whitley County EMS then transported Chadwell to Baptist Health Corbin, where he was later pronounced deceased by the Whitley County Coroner.

Chadwell was taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for an autopsy.

Canada remains held on a $250,000 cash bond at Whitley County Detention Center.

The grand jury reportedly returns on Monday, October 17 at 11 a.m.
