Laurel County Sheriff Root says search warrant leads to candy laced with drugs

According to Laurel County Sheriff John Root, deputies received a tip on possible drug activity at a hotel within London city limits on Wednesday, May 25.

Deputies executed a search warrant at the local hotel and recovered numerous weapons, methamphetamine, assorted pills, marijuana, and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Sheriff Root said they also reportedly found THC gummies and candy laced with drugs “portrayed to appeal to young children, which could result in an overdose or a dangerous situation.”

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office advises all parents, caregivers, and teachers to be aware of these drugs.

Since the search yesterday, one person has been taken into custody. The investigation is ongoing.

Further details will be released at a later date.
