Hinkle man accused of strangling girlfriend and holding her hostage

According to Knox County Sheriff's Office, a Hinkle man was arrested on Monday after allegedly holding a woman hostage inside a home for two days and physically assaulting her.

Deputies responded to a call about a woman that had been assaulted by her boyfriend, identified as Mickey Grubb.

Once on scene at the residence on Grubb Cemetery Road, Deputy Elijiah Broughton observed that the victim's eyes were both swollen shut and severely bruised.

Deputy Broughton also noted the woman was bruised and had swelling on her right arm and multiple other parts of her body. It was determined that Grubb wrapped an extension cord around the victim's throat, rendering her unconscious.

The victim stated Grubb held her in the home against her will for two days and that she was finally able to leave home after climbing out of a window then running to the neighbor's house for help. Deputy Broughton observed that a lock had been placed on a door restricting the victim from leaving home.

The victim was airlifted to UK hospital with serious physical injuries to her head and face.

Grubb was located at a store on KY 1304 approximately a mile from his residence and taken into custody.

Mickey Grubb, 54, of Hinkle, was arrested and lodged in the Knox County Detention Center. Grubb was charged with Assault - Second degree (Domestic Violence), Unlawful Imprisonment - First degree, and Strangulation - First Degree.

Due to suspected drugs found in residence, more charges are pending for Grubb. He is being held on a $50,000 cash bond.
