High School football week two wrap-up

Corbin vs. Whitley County

The Redhounds improved to 2-0 with a 42-13 win at home over Whitley County (0-2). Kade Elam led Corbin with four touchdowns on the night. He completed 12 of 15 passes for 204 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 62 yards for two touchdowns. Cameron Combs ran the ball eight times for 33 yards and two touchdowns. Combs also caught a 54-yard touchdown pass. On the defensive side of the ball, Anthony Myers led the way with nine tackles, while Peyton Jordan, Jacob Baker, and Zayne Hammack recorded eight tackles each. The Redhounds will travel to Franklin County on September 2.

Tye Hamblin led the Colonels by completing eight passes for 102 yards and a touchdown. Shane Parker ran the ball seven times for 64 yards, while Hamblin ran the ball 12 times for 46 yards and a touchdown. Bryson Potter caught four passes for 52 yards and a touchdown. Christian Grubb led the defense with eight tackles. Whitley County will host Harlan County (1-1) on Friday, September 2.

Knox Central- The Panthers improved to 2-0 with a 32-28 win at home over Bell County (1-1). Steve Partin led the Panthers with five touchdowns on the night. He ran the ball 33 times for 171 yards and four touchdowns while completing 8 of 10 passes for 82 yards and a touchdown. Dalton Crawford turned in a solid defensive performance as he recorded three tackles for a loss, including a sack. Knox Central will travel to South Laurel on Friday, September 2.

Lynn Camp- The Wildcats fell to 1-1 as they suffered a 52-0 loss at home to Frankfort (1-1). Brody Lane led the Wildcats with 121 yards on 21 carries. Peyton Wilson completed two passes for 58 yards, and Lane caught a pass for 32 yards. Josh Lee and Wilson led the defense with four tackles each. Lynn Camp will travel to Clay County on Friday, September 2.

North Laurel- The Jaguars remain 0-1 on the season after enjoying their off-week. They will host Johnson Central (2-0) on Friday, September 2.

South Laurel- The Cardinals fell to 0-2 after suffering a 38-15 loss at home to Estill County (2-0). Noah Smith led the Cardinals by completing seven passes for 158 yards and a touchdown. Hunter Bundy hauled in an 80-yard touchdown pass. Bradley Elza led the defense with 16 tackles, while Garrison Brown recorded nine tackles. South Laurel will host Knox Central (2-0) on Friday, September 2.

Williamsburg- The Yellow Jackets improved to 2-0 with a 22-21 win at home over Middlesboro (0-2). Sydney Bowen led the Jackets with three touchdowns on the night. He completed 7 of 17 passes for 108 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 71 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries. Hunter Thomas ran the ball 10 times for 37 yards. Jordan Perkins caught two passes for 72 yards, while Nate Goodin caught two passes for 72 yards and a touchdown. Thomas led the defense with 13 tackles, while Cooper Prewitt and Ben Hale recorded 11 tackles each. Williamsburg will host Leslie County (0-2) on Friday, September 2.
