A groundbreaking event is set later this month for North Main Street’s newest addition, Corbin’s Farmers’ Market Pavilion.
Corbin Tourism Director Maggy Monhollen made the long-awaited announcement at September’s regular Tourism meeting.
“I received an email from the USDA that our full environmental report was approved and we are approved to break ground!,” exclaimed Monhollen.
The groundbreaking is open to the public and will take place on Tuesday, September 27 at noon at the pavilion site.
The over $600,000 project is made possible by the Ag. Development Board with $100,000 in state funds and $1,500 in Whitley County funds, $100,000 from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), as well as Corbin Tourism pledging $100,000, and Hometown Bank pledging $250,000.
“We are so grateful for the partnership with Hometown Bank towards creating something that will not only enhance downtown Corbin, but that will serve people for generations to come,” said Monhollen. “This project has been a total bear, and I am thrilled that we are finally moving forward!”
