Corbin woman attempts a hit-and-run at traffic crash, arrested

According to Laurel County Sheriff Office, a Corbin woman was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence and leaving the scene of a traffic crash on Tuesday evening, January 18.

Laurel Sheriff's K-9/shift Sgt. Gary Mehler was dispatched to a non-injury motor vehicle traffic crash off US 25, just 6 miles South of London.

Upon arrival, Sgt. Mehler learned that a white-colored GMC Terrain allegedly struck another vehicle and left the crash scene traveling to a parking lot in the vicinity.

Through investigation, Sgt. Mehler was able to locate the driver and vehicle and determined that the driver was under the influence.

Dora Ann Sutton, 73, of Corbin, was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence – First Offense and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.

She was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
