Governor Andy Beshear released a video and statement on Twitter on the new Omicron variant of COVID-19 where he advised Kentuckians to “just breathe.” He pointed out that there’s a lot more that we don’t know about this variant.
“We’ll know more at the end of this week and next.
“It does appear that there is reason for concern, but not for panic,” he said in the statement released Nov 29 in the early afternoon. He noted that there appear to be a number of mutations within the Omicron variant, but that no one knows what that will mean for transmissibility.
In the written part of his statement, Beshear said, “Here in Kentucky, our cases are rising, and our positivity rate is now above 8%. Let’s remember to do the right thing – get vaccinated, get boosted and wear a mask indoors.” - https://bit.ly/3pisRl0
In both the video and the written part of his Twitter statement, Beshear promised transparency about the Omicron variant and any information the state receives about it.
“The best way to protect yourself is by getting vaccinated and receiving a booster shot,” he writes.
