Ballard shoots down Jaguars

The North Laurel Jaguars suffered their second loss in as many days as Ballard came out on fire and knocked down 14 three-pointers to claim an 84-67 victory.

North Laurel weathered the storm in the first quarter as Ballard hit six three-pointers, three of those by Gabe Sisk. The Bruins led 26-20 at the end of the first quarter. Gabe Sisk led the Bruins with 30 points and 15 rebounds, He also went six of 10 from three-point range.

Ballard outscored North Laurel 23-8 in the second quarter to take a 49-28 lead at the half. Ryan Davidson led the Jaguars with four points in the second quarter and finished with eight points for the game.

Reed Sheppard was held to two points in the first quarter and settled for five points in the first half, but bounced back and poured in 12 points in the third quarter. The Jaguars came out strong in the second half and outscored the Bruins 30-17 to tighten the score at 66-58 with one quarter left to play.

Sheppard led the Jaguars with 19 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists, and seven steals. Reece Davidson finished with 12 points, while Brody Brock added 11 points. Colton Rawlings scored 10 points for the Jaguars, including a couple of three-pointers. Chase Keen chipped in seven points.

North Laurel will be back in action on January 6 as they travel to Clay County to take on the Tigers.
