Now a short film being made in Corbin is seeking extras. On September 18 and 19, the city will host the filming of a movie.
Actors and filmmakers ages 10 to 18 are invited to apply. It’s an opportunity to see how a professional film is made with accomplished actors, crew members, and producers.
Extras generally don’t have speaking parts and are usually seen in crowds or public scenes.
The city hopes that this film will be a springboard for fame, the same way that Dirty Dancing was for Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia. Maggy Monhollen, the Executive Director of Corbin Tourism hopes that the film will help drive the town’s image and draw people in.
Legendary actors like Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Rene Zellweger, Paul Newman, and Sylvester Stallone started their careers as extras or non-speaking roles in movies, TV shows, and even TV commercials.
