About 200 Kentucky Soldiers to Deploy to Southeast Europe This Week

This week, The Kentucky National Guard will be sending out the 1st Battalion, 149th Infantry to Kosovo, southeast Europe for a year to provide security.

About 200 soldiers from Barbourville, Middlesboro, and Ravenna will make up 'Task Force Mountain Warrior' in an effort to normalize Kosovo's relations with Serbia, strengthen the rule of law, and promote economic growth and security, the guard said in a news release.

The units will be led by Lt. Col. Jason Mendez and Command Sgt. Major Will Long.
